Club To Celebrate 20th Anniversary! 20 Years Of Impacting Lives!
The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, founded in 1992, is celebrating its 20th anniversary of impacting lives! Thousands of underprivileged children in the West Valley community have benefited from the after-school programs offered by the Club at various sites over the course of twenty years. Club activities and events throughout the year will be themed around this joyous celebration.
The culmination of the 20th Anniversary celebration will occur on Saturday, July 27, with a wonderful gala, honoring the Club’s Founders and the generous people who have supported it throughout its twenty- year history. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilmember Dennis P. Zine, have agreed to Chair the Honorary Committee, and a distinguished group of members of the committee is being assembled…more on this next month.
Join the Club as it celebrates its growth, achievement, and dedication to provide the West Valley community with a positive place for kids!
For more information about the year-long 20th Anniversary celebration, please contact CEO/President Jan Sobel at 818-610-1054 or

Volunteer Of The Month – January 2012 Corinne Kentor
Seventeen-year-old Corinne Kentor is a senior at New Community Jewish High School in West Hills, where she is the co-editor of the school’s newspaper and literary magazine. She considers herself to be a bookworm and enjoys yoga and baking in her free time, but her true passion is education. She has actively participated at the Club since her freshman year of high school, where she has been able to make a difference for Club members, not only through academic assistance, but also by being a great role model and mentor. Corinne has also been a helpful volunteer for the Club’s Halloween Event, Cooper Reading Challenge, and Hip-Hop Dance Classes where she loves to interact with the kids.
According to Corinne, “I feel as if I am able to provide a much needed service and to truly fulfill the essential mission of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club by creating a new and exciting path to education. Through all my work at the Club, I have found what it truly means to be a teacher. These kids have redefined my idea of education and truly inspired me in countless ways.”
Thank you Corinne, for your outstanding leadership in the youth community, and for inspiring other young people to make a difference in the lives of more than 3,400 children at the Club.
