The Club runs on the help from our community and there are so many wonderful opportunities for you, your business, and/or your organization to volunteer with the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Volunteering not only gives you an opportunity to engage in life-changing experiences with children from your community, but benefits the Club in countless ways.

Volunteering With Members

Volunteers are expected to provide a positive environment for our members so that they will want to stay and participate. You will be asked to take part in various areas of the Club where you will work closely with the staff in that area. The most common areas that you will be working in are: Power Hour (homework assistance), outdoor recreation, game room supervision, special games and indoor recreation, arts and crafts, and cleaning and maintenance of the Club. If you have a special talent that you would like to teach, you may discuss running a special program with Ruben Rodriguez, Operations Manager.

Volunteering at the Club is fun and it’s important that your focus is working with the members. Often times, there may not be anything structured for you to do, so you will need to take initiative to work directly with the kids by playing a game, either one on one or with a small group.

A schedule is not required, however, we prefer to know when you will be coming in to help. If you are running a specific program, a schedule is mandatory and we ask that you call the Club if you cannot come in at your scheduled time.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

We have several different types of volunteer opportunites at the Club beyond being a mentor to our members. We are always looking for people to work with our committees such as Marketing or Resource Development, provide pro bono services, and to help with on-site beautification. These are great ways you or your business can help make a difference.

Some of our wonderful volunteers have included:

Bank of America
Blue Shield of California
Farmers Insurance
National Charity League
Old Navy
Pepperdine University
State Farm Insurance
Please be aware that in addition to filling out the Volunteer Application, if you are 18+ you must submit tuberculous (TB) test results from within the past three years, as well as submit to a background screening. Background screening is processed at the main Club location and the cost is $7.
